An accomplished French surgeon, Ambroise Paré covered a wide range of medical topics in his published works. Some of the most notable passages of this textbook deal with gunshot wound treatments and illustrations of various surgeries, for which he invented a number of instruments. Paré also devotes large sections of his text to human deformities, as well as general medical monstrosities alongside horrifying wild beasts.
