Vostok Model.

Vostok 1, also known as Sputnik 11, was the first spacecraft to carry a human into space.  On April 12, 1961, Yuri A. Gargarin was launched in the spherical cabin and completed one orbit of the planet.  Due to concerns over the effect of weightlessness on humans, the entire flight was under the control of Soviet engineers on the ground.  After 1 hour 48 minutes in space, Vostok reentered the earth’s atmosphere and landed in Kazakhstan.
