Lee Harvey Oswald Speaks! Truth Records, 1967.

This strange recording of Lee Harvey Oswald dates from August 1963 in New Orleans.  Oswald was accused of assassinating President John F. Kennedy, who was fatally shot while riding in an open motorcade in Dallas on November 22, 1963.  Oswald was also accused of shooting a Dallas police officer, J. D. Tippit, who stopped Oswald on a suburban street shortly after the assassination.  Accordingly to the FBI’s investigation, Oswald, who served as a U.S. Marine and spent time in the Soviet Union, was an antisocial man with strong communist sympathies.  Two days after the shootings, Oswald was himself assassinated by Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby as police attempted to transfer Oswald from the city jail to the county jail.  Some years later, an official U.S. government commission’s concluded that Oswald assassinated the President and acted alone.  The sensational text and open questions on this album cover are indicative of the conspiracy theories that surround this dark and strange moment in American history.
